Executive Announcement

January 15, 2012

Dear members of the Halton Hills Blue Fins,

I am writing this letter to inform you of the resignation of Lorna Scott as the President of the
Executive effective January 13th, 2012.  As per Lorna’s letter of resignation, this was a decision that was not taken lightly and was made following weeks of contemplation.  It was Lorna’s hope that the extreme demands of work, new business, family life and volunteering would resolve to allow greater attention and focus on the demands of the position of President. However, it was with a heavy heart that she came to the realization that the balance she was seeking would not be achieved in the short term and therefore, felt it was necessary to resign her position.

Lorna has been a vital contributor to the Blue Fins community as Vice President and then President. During her tenor with the executive, Lorna played an instrumental role in the restructuring of our program to the successful organization it is today. These changes included the hiring of a full time head coach as a component of program development that has seen the club develop the highest number of swimmers to qualify for National, Senior National, Provincial and Central Region including Team Canada with many, many more up and coming swimmers that will push our numbers even higher. Lorna has also played a key role in securing a major corporate donation that has helped to make our fundraising dance so financially successful. Although Lorna will no longer be a part of the executive, she and her family will continue as active and valued members of our team as well as a team sponsor through their business, Booster Juice.  Please join me in wishing Lorna the best and in thanking her for years of contribution.

Further, as outlined in the Halton Hills Blue Fins Constitution, Article IV, Section II, Duties of Vice President, “in the event that a vacancy occurs in the office of the President, the Vice President shall act as President for the unexpired term”.  It is with this in mind that I also inform you that I have assumed the role of President of the executive. Although Lorna’s knowledge and skills will be missed, I look forward to this new challenge and have full confidence in the ability of the remaining executive members to continue to work collaboratively to ensure the ongoing effective day to day operations of the club and to continue to drive our club successfully into the future.  Please look for upcoming announcements regarding new and exciting executive initiatives in the next few weeks.

If you have any questions, concerns or feedback at any time, please feel free to contact me at president@haltonhillsbluefins.ca . Thank you for your patience and tolerance during this time of transition.

GO BLUE FINS!

Regards,

Karen Troughton, President
